Here are 6 tips to help you for building your brand on Instagram. But before we start, I have some pretty impressive numbers to share with you.

In 2014, according to a Forrester report, it was said: “Instagram delivers 58 times more engagement per follower than Facebook and 120 times more engagement per follower than Twitter”. We can conclude that 2015 is likely to be as profitable for Instagrams’ users, don’t you think?

Since they are more and more people who are mobile these days and are checking their social media from their smart phones, so right now is a great time to capitalize on Instagram and begin building your brand.

Tip #1: Find Your Target Audience

First of all, find your target audience. Follow hashtags related to hobbies or interests that are relevant to your business. Don’t forget to see who’s following your competitors. Go to your competitors’ profiles, and take a look at their “Followers”. Connect with their “Followers”, those who seem to be your ideal clients, by liking some of their posts. Joining in the conversation and respond to comments, compliment them, or answer a question.

Tip #2: It’s Not an Advertising Site

Don’t set up a Instagram account with the intention to turn it into one big advertisement. Instagram is a social site not a business to business site. Do set up your Instagram with the intention to brand you as a leader and give your followers a sneak peak at what all you do in your business and lifestyle. Attraction marketing always works best with Social Media. Share with your audience the benefits of what you offer, something that attracts most people like having more time and freedom.

Tip #3: Apply The 80/20 Rule

Don’t post all the time about your business trying to sell something, that will repel your audience. Apply the 80/20 rule. So all posts related to marketing techniques to promote your business should be 20% of your content shared, and the 80% should be of other things. Get the trust of your audience by posting things of value like marketing tips, quotes, etc.

Tip #4: Be Consistent

Another tip to help you for building your brand is to don’t sign up only to rarely return or post on your Instagram account. Be consistent with posting. You will get more significant results if you are consistent on Instagram. Indeed this is true for all social media.

Tip #5: Don’t Go Nuts With Hashtags

Too many hashtags makes you look desperate.  Hashtags are a great way to get you noticed in the vast universe that is Instagram. This platform allows you to use 30 hashtags per post, but that does not mean you should use 30 hashtags in hopes that it will get you more likes. 5 to 10 per post is reasonable. These hashtags might be your business or blog name, your catchy slogan. You could use a product name as a hashtag or even the location of your store.

Tip #6: Choose The Right Images

The last tip but not least, share high quality images by displaying a variety of images related to your brand. People only spend a few minutes to scroll through Instagram at a time and will only engage with content that captures their attention. And please, be carefull with the copyrights.
